Swing Caddie SC100 Golf Launch Monitor 2024 : An HONEST Review

If you want to make practice a bit more entertaining you might want to consider getting yourself a launch monitor to give yourself a challenge. Today, I’m going to be reviewing the Swing Caddie SC100 from Voice Caddie and giving my honest opinion after testing it out for myself. I’ll also show you the cheapest place I could find it for sale, so continue reading.

The SC100 would be a great device for someone who goes to the range a lot, struggles with distance control, and doesn’t know how far they hit each club. It’ll make practice a lot more fun and that should get you out more which should improve your game. However, it’s probably not the best for someone who doesn’t practice much or needs to fix their swing because if that’s the case you probably won’t see much benefit.

Even though the SC100 gave some good info, it wasn’t the most accurate device and I’d probably recommend the SC200 instead. If that’s all the info you were looking for then great. If you want a more detailed review and the best place to pick one up, continue reading.

My First Impression

This is Swing Caddy’s most affordable system and will give you readings for your carry distance, swing speed, ball speed, and smash factor. Knowing your carry distance is obviously the most important thing because it’ll help you really dial in your distance control.

All you have to do is put the device behind you and take a swing. It’ll take a second to calculate everything and then it’ll spit out your numbers.

I don’t see it being 100% accurate but the info could still be helpful and it also makes practice more fun. That’s pretty much the reason I got it.

I’ve purchased both the SC200 and SC300 because it made practice more of a challenge and that resulted in me getting out more, which resulted in my game improving.

What Does The SC100 Do?

The SC 100 basically does 2 things.

The first is that it tracks your swing speed, club speed, ball speed, and smash factor and will let you know your stats in real-time. You can use it at the range or at home hitting into a golf net. What’s nice about the 200/300 is that the readings are a bit quicker and it’ll actually read the numbers out so you don’t have to bend over.

The second is the 3 different modes it has (target, practice, and random).

Target lets you select a distance and it’ll tell you how close you were (after 10 shots). Random will give you different distances and will tell you how close you were (eg. 150 yards then 85 yards). Practice is pretty self-explanatory. Here’s a demo video:

What Doesn’t The SC100 Do?

A lot of people think these devices will magically fix their game but that’s the furthest thing from the truth. Other than your carry distance, the other stats really aren’t that important. Like I said before, it turns practice into a game and you’ll be able to see if you can beat your previous stats.

There’s no way something like this can fix a bad swing (the only thing that will is lessons or training aids) but the one thing it does do (at least for me) is it makes practice more fun.

When practice is more fun you’ll get out more and when you get out more you’ll probably get better.

How Accurate Was The SC100?

I didn’t expect it to be super accurate but it definitely was better than I first thought.

Obviously, it’s not going to be as accurate as of the $20,000 simulators but for a fraction of the price, it was pretty good. As long as the numbers were in the right ballpark, I was fine with it.

In my experience, it always seemed to be within about 5-10 yards (which I was completely fine with). The 200 and 300 seemed to be a bit more accurate as well.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Can you use it with a practice net?

A. You can but it’s always better to see the ball flight and direction.

Is It Worth It?

This would be a great device for someone who goes to the range a lot, struggles with distance control, and doesn’t know how far they hit each club. It’s not going to directly impact your game but I do think I’ve gotten better since getting it.

Overall, it’s a great device that has helped my game (I went with the 200 and recently the 300 because it offers more). If you’re able to pay a bit extra then I’d highly recommend the SC200 instead.
