Today, I’m going to be reviewing the Optishot 2 Golf In A Box system and giving my honest thoughts after giving it a test at home. I’ll also show you the cheapest place I could find it for sale, so continue reading.
The Optishot 2 Golf in a box is one of my favorite golf devices and would highly recommend picking it up if you have the spare cash. It’s not the best or most accurate simulator out there but it’s a fraction the cost and is super fun to use. The basic setup isn’t overly expensive and you can play a number of popular courses from around the world. I ended up practicing a bunch on it and it’s been able to improve my consistency on the course.

What’s Included In The Optishot Golf In A Box?
This is a pretty cool bundle that gives you everything you need to build your own golf room (Optishot sensor system, a golf mat, and a net).
You can use it inside or outside but you’ll need to make sure you have plenty of room to swing a club.
The basic model comes with pretty much everything you need to get started. There are also some upgraded models that come with some extras to make the whole setup even better.
The first is the Golf in a Box 2 which comes with a higher quality net.
There’s nothing wrong with the basic net but you might want to use something a bit sturdier if you’re playing in the main part of your house.
The second is the Golf in a Box 3 which comes with a projector and projector screen.
If you want to build the ultimate simulator room then this is what you’ll need.
What Does The Optishot Do?
The Optishot system is one of my favorites because it’s a fraction of the price compared to others and it’s extremely simple to get set up and use.
It’ll track your swing and keep track of your data and you can also play popular courses around the world.
It comes with around 15 courses (currently) but you can also purchase additional ones for around 30 bucks. A bunch of popular options is available to play.
I’ve tried a few of these over the years and the reason I went with the Optishot was because of the multiplayer feature and it doesn’t overpower my computer. Here’s a demo video:
Was It Easy To Use?
One of the main reasons I went with the Optishot was because of how simple it was to set up and use.
Some of the other ones take a number of steps and wouldn’t be ideal for a lot of people.
It took us around 30 minutes to set everything up and all you really have to do is download the software from their website and hook up your computer. As long as you have a decent computer it should work fine.
After everything has been downloaded and connected all you have to do is turn it on and select your course.
How Did The Optishot Perform?
If you’re looking for something fun to do with your buddies, this could be a great option.
Out of all the options, I think this is the best multiplayer simulator.
Most people will be using the simulator inside and it can sometimes be hard to swing your driver and woods (unless you have high ceilings).
When you’re hitting balls you might have to hit off a tee because the pad will put green marks on your balls.
It tracked my irons really well, the driver was a little bit off, and putting wasn’t the best (the case with most simulators).
How Accurate Was The System?
I wasn’t really expecting it to be super accurate (compared to the $5000 simulators) but it was actually quite a bit better than I expected.
I got it just for something fun to do but it was cool that it tracked your distance, club speed, swing path, and ball flight.
The data with my irons seemed to be fairly close (within 5-7 yards) and it definitely helped improve my game (since I was practicing more).

Pros
- It’s super simple to set up and get started.
- It comes with 15 courses (you can buy more for $30).
- It works with real or foam balls.
- The multiplayer mode is great.

- The putting wasn’t that accurate (same for most).
- You’ll need high ceilings to use your driver and woods.
- The graphics aren’t as good as some (but they’re more $$).
- You’ll need a decent computer to run on.

Is It Worth It?
Overall, I’d say it’s definitely worth picking up if you have the spare cash lying around. It’s not the best or most accurate simulator out there but it’s a fraction the cost and is super fun to use.
I ended up practicing a bunch on it since I didn’t have to go to the range and my game got more consistent. If you want a more accurate model, go with the Skytrak.
