I’ve always been a big fan of Srixon’s balls and these irons were one of the first clubs of theirs that I’ve ever used. In this post, I’m going to be reviewing the Srixon z785 irons and talking about whether or not they’re worth picking up.
Long story short, these irons are designed for low to mid handicaps who don’t need a whole lot of forgiveness. I noticed you really had to hit them pure to get the best results, but when you did, the distance was awesome. They had a nice and soft feel to them which helped me a lot with accuracy and they were great for hitting out of thicker grass. The reason a lot of low handicaps like these irons is that they’re great for shot shaping and are really versatile. That’s why I’d definitely recommend it if you’re a lower handicap player.

Srixon z785 First Impressions
I’ve never swung Srixon clubs until recently, but I finally decided to try out both the z785 and z565 irons. I really liked Srixon balls and I was hoping their clubs were as good. They don’t seem to be as popular as some of the other brands out there but the people who do use them love them.
The 785’s are designed more for your low to mid handicap player who is looking for distance, softness, and a compact size. The 565’s are designed more for your mid to high handicap player.
From what I could tell, the 785’s were a lot better for shot shaping and were more versatile. On the other hand, the 565’s were more forgiving and better for mid to high handicaps.
How Did They Look
I definitely prefer the mid-sized compact irons over the big fat cavity backs that are on the market these days. That being said, I know a lot of average golfers like them because of how forgiving they are.
The 785’s are slightly smaller than the 565’s, there is less offset, and the top line is a bit thinner. That’s exactly what most scratch golfers would be looking for.
If you prefer the bigger irons, these probably won’t be for you. Other than that, I really liked the way they felt at address and how comfortable they felt in my hands.
How Was The Sound/Feel
The club had a softer feel and sound to it at impact and that’s what I prefer my irons to be like. Some people do prefer a bit of a harder feel, but if you use a harder golf ball you should still be fine.
Everyone will be different though but I feel like I have a lot more control and accuracy with the ball when it’s soft verse an iron that the ball jumps off of.
I’ve found a lot of irons these days feel hollow through impact and I’m not a huge fan of that so it was nice to see these clubs the way they were. If you plan on golfing a lot and want to get better, you’ll eventually want this in your irons.
How Did They Perform
I found these irons a lot easier to hit than some of the other low handicap irons on the market, like the M1’s. Compared to the z565’s, this club had a bit more distance and a slightly lower ball flight. The forgiveness definitely wasn’t as good so you really had to make sure you struck it pure to get a respectable distance.
The V.T. sole reduces the amount that the iron digs into the ground which helped a lot with mishits or hitting out of thicker grass. They have a higher bounce and that lets the club glide through the grass or ground easier, and that’s the biggest thing I liked about these Srixon clubs.

Who Are They Best For
Since they don’t have the most forgiveness, they’re designed more for low to mid handicaps who can consistently hit the center of the face. If that’s you, I think you’d really love these irons.
Most mid to high handicaps struggle with this and would probably benefit more from something else. I wrote an article on my favorite irons for average players, which you can see here.

My Final Thoughts
Overall, if you’re in the market for a new iron set, you prefer a compact club, and you prefer workability and distance over forgiveness, this iron could be perfect for you. They’re one of my favorite lower handicap irons and if they fit your game I think you’d really like them as well.
If you are looking to pick them up I would recommend trying them out first since they’re expensive. As long as you’re not a beginner or higher handicap I do think you’ll love them though.
