11 Things Every Golfer Needs In Their Bag

In this post, I’m going to be talking about 11 things every golfer needs to have in their golf bag. Some of them are super simple while others will only be used occasionally. They can all come in handy though and that’s why I’d recommend them. Here are the things all golfers should have in their bag:

  1. A glove for both hands.
  2. Plastic tees.
  3. Permanent marker.
  4. The right balls.
  5. Alignment rods.
  6. A hat.
  7. Yardage finder.
  8. Sunscreen.
  9. Groove brush.
  10. Your yardage stats.
  11. Towel.

Glove For Both Hands

I don’t always wear 2 gloves but there are a time and a place when it can come in handy.

I get sweaty hands on hot days so having a second glove really helps with grip.

Same for if it rains or you get a cut (can also use tape).

Here is the best golf glove I’ve ever used (you need to try it).

Plastic Tees

I bought a bag of plastic tees over 5 years ago and am still using them to this day.

I always seemed to need a new wooden tee every couple of holes and it was nice to not have to run out to the store every few months for them.

Permanent Marker/Pencil

Always keep a permanent marker in your bag because it can be used for a wide range of things.

I’d recommend you draw a straight line on the ball to help you align things on the green and off the tee.

The Right Balls

Most average golfers just play whatever ball they can get their hands on or worst yet, play expensive Pro V1’s.

Having the right golf ball for your swing plays a big part in your overall game.

Noodle or Srixon Soft Feel for most average players.

Alignment Rods

They’re an inexpensive, simple and effective way to improve your game.

Use them on the range or before your round to really dial in your alignment.

The more you can do right before your swing the better.

I used to carry rods around with me but I’ve been using the Tee Claw instead. It’s way more effective and more compact.

Hat

I don’t like wearing a hat if I don’t have to but there are those certain days where you’ll miss it if you don’t have one.

Most people wear hats but if you don’t then just get one to throw in and forget about until you need it.

Yardage Finder

Having something to give you yardages is a simple way to shoot more consistent scores.

Doesn’t matter if it’s a laser rangefinder, some sort of GPS, or just a free app on your phone.

This has really helped my game (also bring spare battery).

Sunscreen

If you’re anything like me and burn after being in the sun for more than 15 minutes you’ll know how important this is.

I always keep a bottle of sunscreen in my bag to reapply throughout the round.

Chapstick is also useful.

Groove Brush

Always make sure you’re cleaning the dirt out of your grooves every round or so.

It’s going to impact the performance having dirt in there and players like us need all the help we can get.

Your Yardage Stats

Figure out how far you hit each club, write it on a piece of paper, and keep it in your bag.

This makes picking what club to use really simple and takes the guesswork out.

You’ll be much more consistent with your distances with this.

Towel

Keep some sort of towel on or in your bag to wipe the dirt or water off your clubs.

This keeps them nice and clean and performing well.

You can also use it to clean your hands or face.
