We Reveal The 3 Best Putting Training Aids To Actually Fix Your Putting

Most people overlook the amount of practice it takes to become a good putter. They also don’t realize that it’s the thing that’s costing you the most strokes. In this post, I’ll be sharing my thoughts on the 3 best putting training aids so you can figure out which will be the right fit for you and your game, and also the best place to pick them up.

I’ve tried and tested tones of different training equipment and most of them have been big gimmicks that don’t really work. That being said, here are my top picks:

  1. The Putting Navigator.
  2. Groove+ Putting Laser.
  3. True Pendulum Motion.

When we were trying out all the trainers we ranked them all based on how they actually performed, how the quality was, and also how much they cost. We tried the best we could to find a cheaper option as well as a more heavy-duty one. Continue reading for my full review of each and info on where to get them for the best price.

#4: Tee Claw

This is something I’ve just recently come across and I felt like I needed to put it in here because of how much I like it. It’s a device you can use for a range of different things and I use it all the time on the green and it’s really helped.

I find myself using mine all the time. It’ll come with a few elastic lanyards and a few claws that grip the ground. You can use the claws and lanyards to draw alignment lines on the green to really make sure you’re aiming at the target.

It’s quite a bit cheaper than other devices as well and is also more versatile. You can use it for alignment, stance, and a bunch of other things. I never go to the range without it because of how helpful it’s been when it comes to lining up properly and having the right target. See our full review and demo here.

#3: The Putting Navigator

This is one of the best training aids I’ve used for improving my alignment and the best thing about it is that it’s not crazy expensive like a lot of other equipment out there.

It’ll attach to pretty much any putter (left or right) and will clearly show you where you’re actually aiming (I found I was almost always aiming too far right and it wasn’t until I started using this that I realized that).

Just by fixing this one little thing, I was able to shave a couple of strokes off my game and I’m sure I’m not the only one who would benefit from something like this.

Let’s cover some PROS:

  • It’s an affordable training aid (less than the cost of 1 round).
  • It’s extremely simple (and effective) and will work on any putter.
  • It’ll help any putter dial in their putting.

How about the CONS:

  • The only downside I could see is that it won’t fix all areas of your stroke (tempo, speed, etc).

Overall, it’s an awesome device and I can’t recommend it enough. Check the current price. Here’s a demo video:

#2: Grove+ Putting Laser

Here is another awesome putting aid and even though it’s a bit more expensive, it’ll help improve not only your alignment, but it’ll also help a lot with keeping your face square through impact.

It’s a little bit more noticeable when you’re using it around the course (which some people might not want) but it’s been incredibly effective for me and if you’re serious about improving your game, it’s something you’ll have to get over.

It’s a little bit on the expensive side compared to other trainers (not too bad though) and the only main downside to it is that it doesn’t improve all areas of your game (again, like the previous trainer).

Let’s cover some PROS:

  • It’s the best trainer I’ve used for improving my alignment and ball impact.
  • It’s super simple to set up and easy to use.

How about the CONS:

  • It’s a little bit on the expensive side for training devices.
  • It doesn’t improve all areas of your game (speed, tempo, etc).
  • It’s a little bit noticeable to practice with.

Overall, another solid putting aid. Check the current price. Here’s a demo video:

#1: True Pendulum Motion Trainer

Without a doubt, this is my favorite putting aid right now and the reason is that it has single handily helped me become a more consistent putter and shave strokes off my game.

It’s not going to help with alignment (get one of the previous if you really want) but if you struggle a lot with distance control, I’ve found nothing better than this right here (for me anyway).

It’s going to prevent you from using too much wrist in your stroke and move you towards a pendulum motion that uses more shoulder (this could be the best way for beginners to improve their game quickly).

Here are some PROS:

It’ll force you to use less wrist and more shoulder when you’re putting.

It’s super helpful if you struggle with distance control (which I did).

Now the CONS:

  • It’s a little bit expensive (worth it).
  • It’s not going to help if you struggle with alignment.

Definitely my favorite and highly recommend it. Check the current price. Here’s a demo video:

Final Thoughts

If you’re someone who struggles on the green I’d highly recommend getting yourself one or two of training devices. You don’t need to spend hundreds of dollars getting lessons to improve your game, but be sure to get something that actually works. Putting is the single best way to lower your scores, so actually work on it!

I’ve used many devices that are completely useless and not worth the money. You can’t go wrong with any of the three I mentioned above because they actually helped my golf game. It’s crazy how something so simple can be used to actually make you a better golfer.
