Voice Caddie VC200 GPS Rangefinder 2024: An HONEST Review

Today, I’m going to be reviewing the Voice Caddie VC200 GPS rangefinder and giving my honest thoughts after testing it out on the course. I’ll also show you the cheapest place I could find it for sale, so continue reading.

In short, here’s my quick review of the Voice Caddie VC200 Golf GPS: Even though it was an inexpensive golf GPS that was accurate to use, I feel like there are better options on the market in this price range. It’s not a bad device or anything like that but I preferred others because they had a few more features such as showing the green shape and also the distance to the front/back of the green.

If that’s all the info you were looking for then great. If you want a more detailed review and the models I’d recommend instead, continue reading.

My First Impression

This is an inexpensive golf GPS that’ll tell you how far away you are from the green.

It comes preloaded with over 30,000 courses worldwide.

They said it has a 9-hour battery life but in my experience, it was somewhere just under 2 rounds.

What Does The VC200 Do?

The VC200 is a pretty simple device that mainly does 2 things…

The first is it’ll tell you how far away the green is and knowing this will help you dial in your short game.

The second is that it’ll help you figure out how far you hit each club which is really useful for your tee and approach shots.

Knowing this info has been a huge help for me getting more greens in regulation per round.

What Doesn’t The VC200 Do?

Since it’s not an overly expensive or advanced GPS, it doesn’t offer a lot of the things other units do…

The first thing it doesn’t do is show you the distance to different hazards on the course (bunkers, doglegs, water, layup spots, etc).

The second thing is that if a hole isn’t straight it sometimes gives a diagonal distance to the green (which oftentimes isn’t even a playable shot).

How Accurate Was The VC200?

The most important element to these is that they’re actually accurate because if they’re not there’s really no point in having one…

The good news with the VC200 is that it was actually more accurate than I thought it would be.

It wasn’t perfect by any means but it was always within 4-5 yards of my laser rangefinder.

Pros

  • The price can’t be beaten.
  • It’s just as accurate as a lot of the more expensive units.
  • It’s nice and compact.
  • The battery lasts a full round.

Cons

  • It doesn’t show the distance to the front and back of the green (only the middle).
  • It doesn’t show the distance to different hazards on the course (I’d rather have something that did).

The Breakdown

  • Performance Score: 6
  • Price Score: 10
  • Ease Of Use Score: 10
  • My Personal Score: 8

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How do you know what courses are on it?

A. It’s had about 80% of the courses. You can call them and sometimes they’ll add the course for you.

Q. How many holes will the battery last?

A. Just under 36 holes in our experience.

Q. VC 200 vs VC 300?

A. The VC300 gives you the distance to the back/front of the green (it’s better in my opinion).

Is It Worth It?

Even though it was an inexpensive golf GPS that was accurate to use, I feel like there are better options on the market in its price range.

It’s not a bad device or anything like that, but I personally preferred others because they had a few more features (front/back of green & green shape).
