In this post, I’m going to be reviewing the MGI Zip X3 golf cart and sharing my honest thoughts after testing it out on the course. It’s more of an entry-level electric cart that’s not crazy expensive, but that being said, how did it perform?
The MGI Zip X3 will be perfect if you’re in the market for an electric golf buggy but don’t want to break the bank. It’s not the fanciest cart out there but it’s built well, has plenty of power, and will work awesome on flatter courses. Overall, if you don’t need advanced features like downhill speed control or the follow feature, I’d give the X3 a thumbs up.
The things we look at when testing an electric golf trolley is how much power it has to get up hills, how long the battery will last, how durable the frame was, and also the price. If that’s all the info you needed then great, but continue reading if you want a more detailed review.

My First Impressions
This is a pretty cool electric golf cart that’s actually a lot better than some of the others we’ve tested in the past (some were quite a bit more $$ as well).
It doesn’t have all the advanced features like the Motocaddy S7 but the quality of the cart and the battery seemed great and it performed just like you’d want it to.

How Was The Build Quality?
What I didn’t like about some of the other carts was that they were pretty heavy and I’m sure some people wouldn’t be able to lift it up and down from their car…
The X3 was made to be lighter and also smaller (which I was a big fan of) and the good news is that it didn’t mess with the quality (most things that are light are normally not as sturdy).
The frame was solid, it was easy to set up/takedown, and the wheels held up nicely.
The only thing I noticed was that it was a little bit top-heavy and might tip over on some steeper hills (if you’re going sideways. Up/down was no problem).
How Was The Battery?
The X3 comes with a 24v battery which was awesome since most only have a 12v.
I like the way they designed the clip-on battery and I found it quite a bit easier than some of the others (some literally just sat loose in a box).
I wouldn’t say the battery life was better than most since the majority of electric carts last 1-2 rounds…
The X3 was designed for 36 holes but on a super hilly course, I had to charge it between every round (which wasn’t the biggest deal in my opinion).
But the biggest question is…
How Did It Perform?
Overall, the performance on the course was good and there wasn’t a whole lot of bad things to say about it.
It had plenty of power to get up the steepest hills and it lasted a full round (which is all you can really ask for).
The X3 was the perfect cart for flat courses…
If you’re a beginner I’d maybe check out the X1 since it’s a bit cheaper or if you go to super hilly courses I’d recommend the MGI X5 (it had downhill speed control which was pretty useful).

Pros
- It’s fairly inexpensive compared to other electric golf carts.
- It has plenty of power.
- It’s small and lightweight (25lb).
- It has a rotating/lockable front wheel.
Cons
- I found it to be a little bit top-heavy.
- It’s not the best for steep hilled courses (there’s no downhill speed control).
- There is no remote.

Is It Worth It?
If you’re in the market for an electric golf cart and don’t want to break the bank, this could be a great fit. It’s not the most advanced buggy on the market but it’s well built, has lots of power, and will work perfectly on flatter courses.
I’ve tested quite a few different models in this price range, and as I said before, the X3 is one of my favorites.
