Today, we’re going to be reviewing the Datrek Go-Lite and I’ll be sharing my honest thoughts after testing out this golf bag. The very first time I heard of Datrek was when I tried this out, so I was pretty curious to see how it performed.
Long story short, it was pretty hard to find something bad to say about this bag with it being so reasonably priced. Sure, the clubs sometimes grabbed a bit putting them in or taking them out but most bags do that anyway. What I like most is that you can use it for walking, pushing, or carting, so you don’t have to pick one or the other. It had 14 full-length club dividers, which was awesome, and it seemed to be very well made compared to others. That’s why I’d give it a thumbs up.
Do I think it’s the best bag on the market in this price range? No, probably not. It’ll be perfect for someone who likes to walk the course but sometimes takes a cart. If that’s all the info you were looking for then great. But if you want a more detailed review of the hybrid bag, be sure to watch the full video or blog post below.

Datrek Go-Lite First Impressions
What I like most about this bag is that it’s designed for both WALKING and CARTING. With most of the other carts, you have to pick between them. It’s possible to throw a strap on a cart bag and take it for a walk but it’s not going to be as comfortable as a stand bag. That’s the big selling point with the Datrek. (that’s why it’s called hybrid).
I don’t normally walk myself ( I use a pushcart) but it’s nice to see something that’ll work for both types of golfers. I’ve had a few times when I walked the course with my cart bag, and that definitely was not very fun.
The next thing I liked about it was the 14 FULL-LENGTH CLUB DIVIDERS. I don’t know about you but I’m not the biggest fan of having my clubs jammed together in one single compartment. Every club is going to have its own compartment and that’s just what I’m looking for.
More Features
It comes with a double strap which will make it easier to carry if that’s what you prefer. Some of the bags I’ve tested weren’t comfortable at all to carry around, so this was nice to see. I’m not going to say it’s the most comfortable thing I’ve carried but it was pretty good. Here’s a demo video:
It also has an insulated drink compartment to keep everything nice and cold, and that is an absolute must! If you’re someone who likes to bring a couple of sodas to the course then you’ll need something to keep them ice cold.
It also has a velcro glove holder which is pretty convenient and I really liked that. I know you can just toss your glove in your pocket but some people might find this more convenient.
It comes in a wide variety of colors so you can pick whatever style you like. If you like classic colors or you want something a bit brighter, there’s an option for you (I like black).
Overall, there was plenty of room for all my clubs, gear, jackets, snacks, and drinks.
How Was The Design & Quality
The first thing I look at with a bag is the QUALITY of it. I don’t care how good it looks or how much storage it has, if it’s going to fall apart after a year, I don’t want it. I haven’t experienced this too much but I have had the zippers on a few bags come apart.
I found the material really WELL-MADE and according to the manufacturer, it’s tear and weatherproof which is awesome. I didn’t try to submerge the bag or take a knife to it, but overall, everything looked pretty solid.
It weighed in at about 5.5 pounds which is super light but it still seemed like it’d hold up nicely. Nobody wants to hike around with a big bulky bag, so this is something that could be perfect.
How Did The Bag Perform
Even though I don’t normally walk, I thought I’d better test it out and it was actually pretty comfortable to lug around. The double strap worked great and the back pad made it a lot more comfortable than some of the other bags out there I’ve tested.
Again, it’s not the most comfortable bag on the market but if you’re just an average player, it’ll do the job just fine. Also, the LEGS seemed to be well built and weren’t all flimsy like a lot of other bags on the market.
The base was more square than your average carry bag and it wasn’t a problem at all in a push or power cart. That’s probably the main thing you’re looking for if you’re reading this.
Pros
- It’s super AFFORDABLE.
- It can be used for every situation (walk, push, ride).
- It has 14 full-length club dividers.
- It seemed to be VERY WELL MADE compared to others.
Cons
- The clubs sometimes did grab the bag when taking them out or putting them away (it’s still better than the one compartment bag in my opinion).

My Final Thoughts
Overall, if you’re in the market for a new golf bag and don’t want to break the bank I’d highly recommend checking out this one. It seemed to be really well built and it was perfectly good for walking and carting. That’s why I’m recommending it.
If you only walk when you play golf, you’ll probably want to pick something a bit more comfortable on the back (check out one of these). If you only use a golf cart, a bag designed specifically for that would probably work better (the Callaway Org 14 is a great option).
