There are so many different golf courses around the Vancouver area to pick from but just like anywhere else, some are a lot more fun than others. In this post, I’m going to be talking about my favorite public golf courses near Vancouver, British Columbia.

I’m not saying these are the nicest or hardest golf courses but they’re the ones I had the most fun playing. I tried to pick courses at different price ranges and in different areas to give you the best idea of where you should go. The main reason I enjoyed playing these courses was because of the design. Some were a lot tougher than others but they were all well designed.

This is one of Canada’s top 50 courses and it is one of my favorites to play. The layout is great, it’s a long course, but it’s not just for scratch golfers to play. The scenery around the course is pretty good and it’s got good drainage, so you can play year-round. It has a good mix of bunkers, ponds, doglegs, and a number of other things that make the game more interesting. It’s not overly long but it is quite difficult to play and your skills will be tested. It’s located at the top of Abbotsford so you can overlook the city and the farmland below. This is the course Adam Hadwin and Nick Taylor grew up playing. Be prepared for the greens though, they’re quick. Find out more here.

If you’re looking for a cheaper place to play outside the city then this is it. It’s not a very difficult course and it’s not the most fancy but it’s incredibly fun to play. I love the way it’s designed and every hole is slightly different. There’s always an obstacle to avoid, whether it’s a big valley or pond and it always makes things interesting. My favorite hole is a 180-yard par 3 that drops way down to the green and has water behind it. Find out more here.

This is another awesome golf course about 20 minutes outside the downtown area. It’s not overly fancy but it’s reasonably priced and a very fun course to play. It’s about an hour outside the city but the view and the course itself are awesome. The course was designed by Arnold Palmer so you know it’s going to be pretty tricky. It’s still super fun to play though. Find out more here.

This isn’t the longest or most difficult course but it’s one of my favorites to play. The scenery is awesome and the layout is very fun to play. You’re in the mountains so you have a lot of trees and the holes aren’t all bunched together like a lot of other places. You may even see some animals. Find out more here.

This is a pretty unique golf course because it has a lot of Asian architecture and even has a great wall of China. The course itself is always taken care of and the design is always a challenge. The drainage is good on it as well so it’s available for most of the year. Find out more here.

This is one of my favorite courses in the area and can get pretty interesting when there’s wind. It’s right by the ocean so a lot of the time it’ll get good wind gusts (plus, it’s a links design). There have been a few times when my drives would only go about 180 yards because of the wind. That being said, it’s still an awesome course to play. Find out more here.

Again, these are my personal favorite courses. They aren’t necessarily going to be the fanciest, hardest, or best taken care of. Some are but some are inexpensive and fun. I think you’ll have a blast at any of them so get out and give one a try.

Let me know your thoughts and any questions you have.
