In this post, I\u2019m going to be reviewing the&nbsp;<strong>Callaway Epic hybrid<\/strong>&nbsp;and sharing my honest opinion after swinging it around the course. It\u2019s designed for mid to high handicaps and has a middle of the range price tag, but that being said, how did it perform?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Callaway Epic hybrid will be right for you if you\u2019re a mid handicap who\u2019s going to use it a lot. If you only golf a few times per year, there are cheaper options you could go with. It\u2019s a bit expensive (middle of the range) but in my opinion, the benefits are well worth it and it\u2019s one of my favorite hybrids. Overall, a thumbs up from us.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The things we look at when testing golf hybrids is how long they were, how much forgiveness they had, how high was the launch, and also the price. The reason I like them so much is that they\u2019re a lot easier to hit then your long irons and they\u2019re more versatile than your fairway woods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I figured it\u2019d probably be perfect for me since it was designed for&nbsp;<strong>mid-handicap<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>players<\/strong>&nbsp;and was more forgiving than most. Mid handicap players normally want a good amount of forgiveness but they also want to be able to control the ball at times for shot shaping and trajectory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not only that, but it also&nbsp;<strong>looked really cool<\/strong>&nbsp;too. I know that\u2019s not something that impacts the performance but there are some ugly looking clubs out there that you think twice about taking out of the bag. More at http:\/\/www.golfalot.com\/equipment-reviews\/callaway-epic-hybrid-review-3842.aspx\"><\/div><\/div><div class=\"lL\" style=\"max-width:100%;width:853px;margin:5px auto;\"><\/div><figcaption><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How Was The Design Quality?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019ve tested a lot of different rescue hybrids over the years because they\u2019re one of my favorite clubs and I\u2019ll definitely say, the Epic was&nbsp;<strong>one of the best at address.&nbsp;<\/strong>The overall feel of the club was really solid and it seemed to be nice and balanced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s not a super big hybrid like a lot of others (they\u2019re all forgiveness and no feel) which I was glad to see and so would most low to mid-handicap players. I also like the smaller head because it\u2019s easier to hit out of the rough. I don\u2019t know about you but I have a hard time hitting my fairway woods and long irons out of the rough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They tried to&nbsp;<strong>lower the center of gravity<\/strong>&nbsp;(COG) to increase forgiveness and give better launches, and it seemed to work. This is what most golf companies are trying to do but some definitely do it better than others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How Was The Sound &amp; Feel?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019m pretty picky when it comes to the way my clubs sound and feel. Again, it doesn\u2019t have a direct impact on the performance but it can boost confidence when you have a solid hit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I find a lot of the clubs these days are too light and almost feel hollow at impact. They make this high pitched pop sound that can be heard from three fairways over. It\u2019s also hard to feel where your mistake was. I\u2019ve had times when I thought I hit the toe but it was actually the complete opposite. I like a club that\u2019ll tell me right away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s the reason I like Callaway clubs. I generally find them to&nbsp;<strong>sound and feel more solid<\/strong>&nbsp;at impact (and the Epic was just that). They aren\u2019t all like that but the majority of them are.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How Did It Perform?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The most important thing when it comes to your clubs is how they perform because if it\u2019s not good there\u2019s no point having them. Some of them are all forgiveness and no feel while others produce a bunch of spin that causes curved shots. The Epic is somewhere in the middle and best suited towards mid-handicap players.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019ve always preferred&nbsp;<strong>hybrids over long irons<\/strong>&nbsp;since I have more consistency with them and they have a higher launch angle. Most golfers can\u2019t hit their ling irons at all and I think a hybrid should be used instead. You can use them off the tee, in the rough, and around the green (bump and run).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<strong>distance<\/strong>&nbsp;and the&nbsp;<strong>forgiveness<\/strong>&nbsp;I got from the Epic was also better than my long irons (and it was also better than a lot of the other hybrids out there). That\u2019s always something a golfer is looking for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Pros<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>It\u2019s not an overly large hybrid.<\/li><li>It has a good amount of forgiveness.<\/li><li>The distance I got was better than most.<\/li><li>The sound\/feel through impact was solid.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Cons<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>It\u2019s a fairly expensive hybrid.<\/li><li>That\u2019s pretty much it.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Frequently Asked Questions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Q. What\u2019s the difference between the Epic and Apex hybrid?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A. I found the Apex to be less forgiving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Q. What\u2019s the difference between the Epic and\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" class=\"rank-math-link\" href=\"https:\/\/outofboundsgolf.co\/callaway-big-bertha-hybrid\/\" target=\"_blank\">Bertha OS hybrid<\/a>?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A. I found the Bertha better for high handicaps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Q. What\u2019s the difference between the Epic and\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" class=\"rank-math-link\" href=\"https:\/\/outofboundsgolf.co\/callaway-rogue-rescue-hybrid\/\" target=\"_blank\">Rogue hybrid<\/a>?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A. The Rogue is bigger and better for high handicaps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Breakdown<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Performance Score: 10<\/li><li>Price Score: 7<\/li><li>Sound &amp; Feel Score: 10<\/li><li><strong>My Personal Score: 9<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Is It Worth It?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Overall, if you\u2019re a&nbsp;<strong>mid<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>handicap<\/strong>&nbsp;who\u2019s going to be using it a lot, I\u2019d say it\u2019s&nbsp;<strong>definitely<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>worth<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>picking<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>up<\/strong>.
