In this post, I\u2019m going to be comparing the Golfbuddy WTX watch to the Garmin Approach S40 and also the Garmin Approach S60.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>After comparing these three watches, our favorites are the S40 and S60 from Garmin. Both of these watches are super high quality and are much better than the WTX. The first watch is going to be the GolfBuddy WTX. This is a relatively affordable golf watch that&#039;ll give you the distance to the front, middle, and back of the green. It also will tell you the distance to different hazards as well as dogleg spots The second is the Garmin Approach S40 golf watch. This is a middle of the range watch (in terms of price) and will not only give you the distance to hazards and doglegs but it&#039;ll also give you the distance to ANY point on the hole. This is super helpful when it comes to figuring out your distance control. The third is the Garmin Approach S60. This is a high-end golf watch from Garmin that has all the same features as the S40 (except for the quick release bands). It&#039;s got the highest price tag but it also has the most features. It&#039;ll tell you the distance to any point on the course and it also has some additional fitness tracking features that the others don&#039;t have. After testing all 3 of them on the course, we feel comfortable recommending the Garmin S40 if you&#039;re tighter on a budget and the Garmin S60 if you want the most features. It\u2019ll give you the most important distances on the course such as the green and hazards. One thing I really liked about the WTX was that it\u2019s fairly&nbsp;<strong>lightweight<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>compact<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It comes loaded with around&nbsp;<strong>40,000<\/strong>&nbsp;courses from around the world and will show the distance to hazards and to the&nbsp;<strong>front, middle, and back<\/strong>&nbsp;of the green. This is pretty much the case with all golf watches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It also has some additional features that most \u201ccheaper\u201d watches don\u2019t such as&nbsp;<strong>dynamic<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>green<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>view<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>pin<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>placement<\/strong>. These will give you a better view of the green and will give you specific yardages to the pin. This watch does have a 3-star rating on Amazon and that\u2019s why I wouldn\u2019t recommend it. It\u2019s just not as well built as the Garmin watches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Pros<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>It\u2019s just as&nbsp;<strong>accurate<\/strong>&nbsp;as any when it comes to distances.<\/li><li>It\u2019s a pretty comfortable watch.<\/li><li>It\u2019s a pretty&nbsp;<strong>nice<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>looking<\/strong>&nbsp;watch in my opinion (good for wearing off the course).<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Cons<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>It\u2019s not the easiest watch to&nbsp;<strong>read<\/strong>&nbsp;(in sunlight) and&nbsp;<strong>use<\/strong>&nbsp;(the icons are quite small).<\/li><li>The GPS seemed to&nbsp;<strong>glitch<\/strong>&nbsp;quite often and needed to be reset.<\/li><li>The&nbsp;<strong>battery<\/strong>&nbsp;life wasn\u2019t the best (around 7 hours).<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Garmin Approach S40<\/h2>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube\"><div class=\"lyte-wrapper\" style=\"width:853px;max-width:100%;margin:5px auto;\"><div class=\"lyMe hidef\" id=\"WYL_TIxPkW1VHdU\"><div id=\"lyte_TIxPkW1VHdU\" data-src=\"https:\/\/outofboundsgolf.co\/wp-content\/plugins\/wp-youtube-lyte\/lyteCache.php?origThumbUrl=%2F%2Fi.ytimg.com%2Fvi%2FTIxPkW1VHdU%2Fhqdefault.jpg\" class=\"pL\"><div class=\"tC\"><div class=\"tT\"><\/div><\/div><div class=\"play\"><\/div><div class=\"ctrl\"><div class=\"Lctrl\"><\/div><div class=\"Rctrl\"><\/div><\/div><\/div><noscript><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/TIxPkW1VHdU\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/outofboundsgolf.co\/wp-content\/plugins\/wp-youtube-lyte\/lyteCache.php?origThumbUrl=https%3A%2F%2Fi.ytimg.com%2Fvi%2FTIxPkW1VHdU%2F0.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"853\" height=\"460\"><br \/>Watch this video on YouTube<\/a><\/noscript><\/div><\/div><div class=\"lL\" style=\"max-width:100%;width:853px;margin:5px auto;\"><\/div><figcaption><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n<p>The S40 is a more&nbsp;<strong>expensive<\/strong>&nbsp;and more&nbsp;<strong>advanced<\/strong>&nbsp;watch compared to the previous GolfBuddy. The first thing I noticed right away was that the S40 felt a lot more solid than the WTX. Also, the S40 has a number of more advanced features and will do most of what you\u2019d want. It\u2019s supposed to last&nbsp;<strong>15 hours<\/strong>&nbsp;on GPS mode but it seemed to be closer to 12 for me (3 full rounds). I\u2019m fine with that because it\u2019s actually quite a bit longer than the other two watches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It comes loaded with over&nbsp;<strong>41,000<\/strong>&nbsp;courses from around the world and will show the distance to hazards, doglegs, and&nbsp;<strong>ANY<\/strong>&nbsp;point on the green. Pretty much all of the main courses in my area were on the watch and if you want to double-check, you can see the full list on the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.garmin.com\/en-US\/golf-courses\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Garmin website<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the better features the S40 has (that the WTX doesn\u2019t) is the&nbsp;<strong>app<\/strong>&nbsp;it comes with that\u2019ll keep track of all of your shots and show you where your common misses were (% of fairways missed left vs right). This will give you a birdseye view of your game to let you know what area needs the most work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<strong>Autoshot<\/strong>&nbsp;feature will automatically record your shot distances and will give you an average distance for each club. Knowing this is key for consistency and this is one of the few ways to really know these numbers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Manual Pin Placement<\/strong>&nbsp;will let you select any point on the green to see the exact distance. A lot of the time the pin isn\u2019t in the middle of the green and without this feature you won\u2019t get an accurate reading.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Custom Targets<\/strong>&nbsp;is very similar but it\u2019ll let you select any point on the hole and save the distance for future reference. Sometimes you might need the distance to something that isn\u2019t a hazard or layup spot. It\u2019s definitely one of my favorite watches and it\u2019ll do pretty much everything you\u2019d want on the course (except make the putt for you). It comes with almost the same features as the S40 but there are a few additional functions.
