In this post, I\u2019m going to be reviewing the Garmin Venu from a golfer\u2019s point of view and talking about whether or not it\u2019s worth picking up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In short,&nbsp;<strong>the Venu is a quality watch but it\u2019s not something I\u2019d purchase myself. There really isn\u2019t anything wrong with it but I do prefer the features and price of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/outofboundsgolf.co\/golf-gps\/fenix-6-vs-approach-s60-vs-vivoactive-4\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Vivoactive 4<\/a>&nbsp;more. The Vivo 4 is around $70 cheaper and the battery lasts a little bit longer (in smartwatch mode). That being said, I do prefer the smaller version of the Vivo (the 4S) because it\u2019s a bit more compact than the Venu (the battery isn\u2019t as good though).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All of the golf features are the same between the two watches so that\u2019s why the extra cost wasn\u2019t worth it for me. They both had the same features but the screen resolution was a bit better on the Venu. That could be worth the extra cost for you but both watches are great. Here\u2019s a quick video of the Venu watch:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=9ZpSW0TKkc4<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=9ZpSW0TKkc4\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The size of the watch is around&nbsp;<strong>43mm<\/strong>&nbsp;and the thickness is around&nbsp;<strong>12mm.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019m not the biggest fan of wearing watches so the more compact ones are what I prefer. I do like the smaller Vivo 4 which is around 40mm, which might not seem like a lot, but it\u2019s also lighter and makes a big difference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The screen resolution is&nbsp;<strong>390\u00d7390<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>pixels<\/strong>&nbsp;which could be important to some but I didn\u2019t really notice a difference between the Venu and the Vivo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The screen is made from&nbsp;<strong>Gorilla<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>Glass<\/strong>&nbsp;(whatever that is) and is supposed to be really durable. It\u2019s not bad but I didn\u2019t find it to be that much more durable compared to the previous Garmin watches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Garmin Venu Golf Features<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019re obviously reading this because you\u2019re a golfer and are looking for a quality multisports watch. That\u2019s why I\u2019m going to be focusing mostly on the golf features and how it performs on the course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The watch is going to&nbsp;<strong>keep track of your score<\/strong>&nbsp;but there are also other things it can do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first thing you\u2019ll have to do is&nbsp;<strong>download your courses<\/strong>&nbsp;onto the watch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s a bit of a hassle but the good news is that it\u2019s easy to do and the course will be saved for next time. All you have to do is go to the Garmin Connect app, find your course, and click on download.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you\u2019re on the course you\u2019ll be able to see&nbsp;<strong>everything that\u2019s going on for each hole<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019ll be able to see what hole you\u2019re on, the par of that hole, the shape of the green, and how far you are from the front, middle, and back of the green. It\u2019s pretty much exactly the same as any other Garmin watch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The next thing you\u2019ll be able to see is where the&nbsp;<strong>doglegs and layup spots<\/strong>&nbsp;are.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Both of these are super important for when you start getting better at golf. You can also see what&nbsp;<strong>hazards<\/strong>&nbsp;are on each hole, where they are in relation to the green, and the distance to the front of it and how far you need to hit the ball to clear it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the more useful features is the&nbsp;<strong>Autoshot<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>function<\/strong>&nbsp;that comes with the watch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s going to tell you how far you hit each shot and then store that info for you to look at after your round. All you have to do is hit your ball, walk up to it, and it\u2019ll tell you how far you hit it. Sometimes it\u2019s good to have, sometimes it\u2019s not.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Garmin Venu&nbsp;Non-Golf Features<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-style-default\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/outofboundsgolf.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/3_Blog-Post-Pic-4.jpg\" alt=\"Garmin Venu\" class=\"wp-image-4250\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019ve had a watch like this from Garmin before, the non-golf features are pretty much the same.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are a few more features these newer watches have but the majority of it is the same. I don\u2019t use too many of them but there\u2019s really an app or function for everything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other than the golf app, the main thing I\u2019d use is&nbsp;<strong>navigation GPS.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I spend a lot of time outdoors so being able to see where I\u2019m at, where I\u2019ve already been, and where I\u2019m going is super useful. You can use it when you\u2019re driving, biking, hiking, or whatever else you\u2019re doing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The second thing I use a lot is the&nbsp;<strong>music feature.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With a lot of the other watches on the market, the only thing you could do was control the music on your phone. That\u2019s really not that useful. You can actually play music directly through the watch by connecting to Spotify or Amazon Music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One thing I think is cool (but don\u2019t really use it) is the&nbsp;<strong>workout feature.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019ll actually show you animations on the watch for when you\u2019re at the gym. It\u2019ll give you workouts to do and you can track all of your stats. There are a bunch of other features that I don\u2019t use too much, but here they are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Body energy monitoring.<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Sleep tracking.<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Blood oxygen tracker.<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Stress tracking.<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Hydration tracking.<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Heart rate monitor.<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Apps for running, hiking, cycling, climbing, etc.<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Phone notifications.<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Garmin Pay.<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Garmin Venu Design<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-style-default\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/outofboundsgolf.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2_Blog-Post-Pic-1-2.jpg\" alt=\"Garmin Venu\" class=\"wp-image-4249\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The design of the Venu is actually something I really like.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I think the watch looks&nbsp;<strong>really good<\/strong>&nbsp;and it\u2019s not as big and bulky as some of the other watches on the market. I can\u2019t wear big watches but the Venu was comfortable enough to wear all the time (not quite as good as the Vivo 4S).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It does come in a few&nbsp;<strong>different colors<\/strong>&nbsp;but I like the black or grey version.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can also buy&nbsp;<strong>different straps<\/strong>&nbsp;so you can customize it as much as you want. Like I was saying before, the screen could be a bit more scratch-resistant but you can just toss on a screen protector and you\u2019ll be good to go.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Garmin Venu Performance<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When it comes to performance, I\u2019m going to be talking about how long the battery lasted and how accurate and useful the golf features were. You\u2019re probably here because you\u2019ll be using the watch for mainly golf, so that\u2019s where I\u2019ll be focusing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let\u2019s start with the&nbsp;<strong>accuracy of the golf GPS<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The golf features are essentially the same across all Garmin watches and so is the accuracy. I wouldn\u2019t say the Venu was as accurate or advanced as the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/outofboundsgolf.co\/golf-gps\/garmin-approach-s60\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Garmin S60<\/a>&nbsp;(golf-specific watch) but it was always within 5 yards of it. That was good enough for me and it should do the job for you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now for the&nbsp;<strong>battery life.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A lot of smartwatches don\u2019t have the best battery in them and that can be a bit frustrating. The Venu isn\u2019t going to last as long as the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/outofboundsgolf.co\/golf-gps\/garmin-fenix-5\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Fenix 5<\/a>&nbsp;or 6 but it was good enough for me. If you\u2019re using the GPS feature constantly, it should last you around 5-6 hours (good enough for golf). It\u2019ll fit wrists between 125-190mm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Is The Garmin Venu Worth It?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Overall, if you\u2019re someone who likes to golf but you also do other activities where a watch could come in handy, the Garmin&nbsp;<strong>Venu<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>could be right for you<\/strong>. The battery life isn\u2019t as good but it\u2019s lighter and thinner. Both are great watches though. If you just want a watch for golf then I\u2019d check out the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/outofboundsgolf.co\/golf-gps\/garmin-approach-s60\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Garmin S60<\/a>.
